Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 22 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1
Duties Description The incumbent will manage hydrogeological studies and groundwater monitoring associated with the permitting and regulation of mined lands throughout NYSDEC's Region 1. Specific duties will include reviewing and writing permit conditions; designing, reviewing, and interpreting hydrogeological studies as well as groundwater monitoring plans; assessing potential impacts from proposed and existing mining activities; assisting with the Groundwater Study at Long Island Mines; overseeing consultants that perform groundwater sampling for permitted mines; reviewing groundwater monitoring data (including QA/QC evaluations); preparing reports and recommendations of corrective actions, if warranted; and managing special projects, as assigned, including those outside Region 1.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview. Location pay is $3,087.
