Minimum Qualifications "Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Public Health Nutritionist 3, Grade 27.
Promotion Provisional - Current New York State Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Public Health Nutritionist 2. "
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have strong management and supervisory skills; experience working with federal nutrition programs; proficiency in policy analysis including review of legislation and regulations; exceptional leadership; organizational and analytical skills; and written and verbal communication skills.
Duties Description "The Bureau of Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs and adults in other programs.
The Public Health Nutritionist (PHN) 3 serves as Director of the Program Administration Section and oversees the daily management of the section. The incumbent will assess program activities ensuring that federal regulations are met, facilitate and oversee outreach efforts, and engage in strategic planning activities. The position directs over 26 professional staff who monitor approximately 1,300 Sponsoring Organizations and provide technical assistance for complex matters involving program eligibility determinations, suspected fraud and abuse, serious deficiencies, terminating providers, assessing implementation of program policies, and assisting with State and federal audits.

"Full time, contingent permanent or provisional appointment. Occasional statewide travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required (20%).
