Minimum Qualifications "Research Scientist 1 (G18): Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences and two years of post-degree professional research experience in an appropriate field, or a Master's degree in the appropriate field and one year of post-degree professional research experience in that field.
Research Scientist 2 (G22): Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences and three years of post-degree professional research experience in an appropriate field, or a Master's degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience; or a doctorate in the appropriate field."
Preferred Qualifications: Clinical parasitology and next generation sequencing experience. Familiarity with bioinformatics, assay validation and molecular diagnostics including DNA extraction, real-time PCR, targeted next generation sequencing as well as microscopy, cloning and tissue culture.
Duties Description Under the direction of the Research Scientist 5, the incumbent will perform all aspects of clinical testing in parasitology testing, participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance and quality control, aid submitting laboratories and help maintain inventory. The incumbent will also design and validate new assays to improve the identification and characterization of parasitic organisms.
