Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent, competitive status as an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, OR a New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive, service in a title at or above Grade 4, and deemed eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Public Candidates: Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service's Beginning Office Assistant eligible list#26-711 with a score of 100 or higher, OR qualified 55 b/c candidate.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate must be able to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced office environment, have strong organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to a team-oriented workplace.
Duties Description The Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) is a regulatory program responsible for the oversight of clinical laboratories, blood banks, patient service centers and limited service laboratories located in or accepting specimens from NYS. An office assistant 1 is needed to maintain daily operations in the CLEP. The incumbent will receive and distribute mail, process incoming applications and fees associated, monitor Program shared mailboxes, address common inquiries and direct other email appropriately, process initial data entry of incoming applications, digitize hard copy documents for archive and prepare hard copy mailings to regulated entities.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
