Minimum Qualifications CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:
Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

All transfer candidates MUST possess six credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses.

Successful completion of a two-year traineeship leads to appointment as an Accountant Aide, SG-13. Candidates MUST have an additional six credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation (for a total of 12 credit hours) in order to complete this traineeship.

Candidates must have six semester credit hours of accounting, auditing, or taxation courses AND
Either 1. one year of full-time experience gathering, preparing and updating financial data, financial reports, and records;
Or 2. one year of full-time experience reconciling accounts and data, reviewing accounting and auditing reports, and verifying accuracy of calculations, balances, and supporting documentation;
Or 3. one year of full-time experience assisting accountants or auditors conducting financial and program audits by counting, verifying, and reconciling inventory and cash on hand, determining and verifying the accuracy and propriety of transactions, records, reports, and statements.

Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:
• Provide Cashier services for the OGS Finance Office.
• Receive payments in person, by mail, and by other electronic means.
• Prepare reports of all receipts for the accounts receivables unit to prepare the deposits.
• Receive deposit paperwork to be submitted with checks and send to the Treasury for deposit into the State’s account.
• Coordinate deposits into the agency’s sole custody accounts with Key Bank.
• Prepare Labor bills for the reimbursement of costs.
• Prepare various billings in the Statewide Financial System.
• Assist in running various reports out of SFS for reconciliation purposes.
• Provide support to the Accounting and Capital Assets units.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
