Preferred Qualifications: The applicant should have a working knowledge of the New York State and Federal Controlled Substance Acts. The applicant should have a broad range of administrative skills and experience including but not limited to assisting with personnel, managing and tracking licensing application processes, dealing with health care providers, and assuring regulatory compliance. The applicant should be able to work independently; have excellent writing and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments. The applicant must be able to problem-solve and develop procedures as well as work with various state agencies and federal partners. The applicant should be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Access as well as Adobe Acrobat DC/Professional. Ability to quickly learn new data management software programs.

Duties Description This position will be in the Licensing and Regulatory Compliance unit within the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement. Duties include reviewing, processing, tracking and finalizing controlled substance license applications. Overseeing, processing, and tracking controlled substance destruction requests and collection events. Work collaboratively with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency and other partners during Drug Take Back events. Track status of appeals by licensees from submission to the point of final determination.
Additional duties include the preparation of written material in the form of internal and external reports, correspondence, and other documents related to program functions, including responding to internal and external stakeholders regarding program policies and regulations. Assist with administrative tasks, operational activities, electronic filing of licensee documents, and other Bureau tasks as needed.

Additional Comments DOH’s Telecommuting Pilot Program for NYS DOH staff has been extended through June 30, 2024. The number of permissible telecommuting days for each employee, not to exceed 5 days per pay period, will be determined by the current work demands/assignments as well as program operational needs.

Permanent, full-time. Occasional travel to locations that may not be served by public transportation may be required. Traineeships are non-statutory, resulting in salary G18 upon completion.
