Minimum Qualifications Reassignment & Transfer Opportunities: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent, competitive status as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), Grade 6, OR a New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive, service in a title at or above Grade 4, and deemed eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), Grade 6, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Public Candidates for Provisional Opportunity: There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this position. However, prior to appointment, candidates will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, WebEx, Zoom and Microsoft Office.

Duties Description The Office Assistant (OA) 1 Keyboarding (KB) position is located in the Western Regional Office Community Health Team (CHT) and will provide administrative support to staff. They will work with a team of professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support for program activities.

The OA 1 (KB) will assist with reviewing, monitoring, and maintaining an organized system for all electronic and paper documentation, ensuring documents have uniform titles and are filed appropriately. They will manage tracking systems for documents and information sent from outside agencies, review and prepare documents, maintain technical assistance logs, take meeting notes, monitor shared email boxes, schedule meetings upon request, update outlook calendars, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive health information in accordance with New York State Department of Health confidentiality policies.

Additional Comments Full time, permanent or provisional appointment. Public candidates, and candidates serving in certain titles will be required to take and pass a keyboarding examination to qualify for appointment.

Provisional opportunities are pending canvass outcome. Provisional candidates will be required to take the next Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) New York State Civil Service examination when it is held, and be reachable on the eligible list when established to maintain employment.

Transfer candidates, you may be asked for a Social Security Number to verify your transfer eligibility.
