Minimum Qualifications New York State Senator Michelle Hinchey is seeking an individual who is a quick learner and self-starter with strong leadership skills to join her team as District Director.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
?Experience managing a team and implementing 360-degree solutions
?Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
?Exceptional attention to detail and building consensus within the office
?The ability to think critically, execute sound judgment and find creative solutions
?Knowledge of the New York State legislative process a plus but not required

Duties Description The District Director is the point person for Senate District 41 issues and initiatives and an integral part of the leadership team. This person will manage the Constituent Services liaisons, represent the Senator at meetings and across district events, and is the primary contact interfacing with key stakeholders. The District Director is also the main conduit of information from the district to the Senator, Chief of Staff, and senior team. This person will flag when there are important issues across the district and work with the Legislative team, the Communications Director, and Chief of Staff to help find solutions and execute communication strategies.

The District Director will often meet with organizations on behalf of the Senator and must be professional and a thorough note taker to make sure that all important information is communicated with the correct team member. They will also supervise the Constituent Services team to make sure that all constituent cases are being assigned, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner, and use sound judgment to elevate cases to the Chief of Staff and Senator, as needed. The District Director is a creative and critical thinker who can build relationships across sectors. This position reports to the Chief of Staff.


Primary responsibilities in this dynamic role include:
?Maintaining a robust understanding of key stakeholders and issues affecting the district
?Representing the office and serve as the top-level staff person in the district when the Senator cannot attend
?Being responsible for the 360-degree view of the district to ensure a thorough understanding of issues and how to find solutions to problems that residents face
?Leading the Constituent Services team
?Writing letters of support for organizations and municipalities seeking outside funding
?Attending meetings on behalf of the Senator
?Working with the Chief of Staff and Scheduler to make sure there is a constant presence in the community by assigning staff to office events such as mobile office hours
?Elevating important district information to the Senator and senior staff in a timely manner
?Managing the Grants Program

Additional Comments This position is based in the District Office located in Kingston.

Salary range is $70,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience.
