Minimum Qualifications One year of experience as a skilled journey level electrician subsequent to the completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Regional Park Maintenance Supervisor or designee, the incumbent will supervise the Allegany Regional Maintenance Electrical Department and perform multiple tasks on low and high voltage systems including, but not limited to:
• Directly supervises, schedules, and evaluates permanent and seasonal staff to ensure that assigned tasks are completed correctly, safely, and in a timely fashion.
• Provides training with respect to agency and departmental policies and procedures, park rules and regulations, and assigned tasks.
• Plans, lays out, and wires new installations; measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit, etc.
• Ensures assigned departmental tools and equipment are in safe working condition and are tested as needed to comply with applicable standards and/or manufacturer recommendations.
• Maintains inventory of departmental tools and supplies.
• Obtains approval and procures materials and supplies following state purchasing guidelines.
• Diagnoses and repairs electrical system malfunctions.
• Tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Installs fixtures, motors and electrical equipment.
• Inspects circuits and wiring and rewires systems as needed.
• Plans and/or modifies installations consistent with specifications and electrical codes.
• Operates bucket truck, tracked truck, Timberjack Digger Derrick and other specialized vehicles/equipment as needed.
• Monitors, maintains, and repairs the Allegany Region's high voltage distribution systems.
• Represents Electrical Department at various meetings.
• Coordinates with other departments and/or facility managers in the execution of department responsibilities.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess a valid Class A* Commercial Driver’s License that allows the candidate to legally operate commercial vehicles in New York State or obtain one within the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.***
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must have knowledge and experience working with high voltage distribution systems; building and repairing distribution lines; and powerline maintenance.
• Must become certified in Municipal Electric Utilities Association of New York State (MEUA) Lineman Apprenticeship Program.
• Must be able to operate, or learn how to operate, a bucket truck, tracked truck, and Timberjack Digger Derrick within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and/or evening shifts.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must be reliable, flexible, and willing to work in a team setting.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner.

***Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The candidate is required to participate in pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
