Duties Description • Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
• Perform building and ground maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment including trucks, tractors, mowers, line trimmers, and power saws.
• Assist with pruning and tree trimming activities involving the operation of chain saw, stump grinder, bucket truck, and chipper.
• Assist with traffic control and parking of vehicles.
• Assist in building and repairing roads, paths, picnic tables, benches, trails, and park equipment.
• Assign, supervise, review, train, and evaluate work of lower-level employees.
• Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, assisting, and directing staff, and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.
• Maintain records including those pertaining to daily maintenance, Automated External Defibrillator, and personal timekeeping.
• Assist in snow removal, shoveling snow, and operate vehicles to plow snow during the winter months.
• Act independently with a minimal amount of direct supervision.
• Assist in other areas of park operations as needed.
• Assist and direct staff and work with patrons to enforce park rules and ensure proper customer service.
• Assist with pruning and tree removal activities involving the operation of chain saw, wood splitter and chipper.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Experience performing facility and operations work (in a park type setting or related field) is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to operate a vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Current Game of Logging 1 and 2 training (or approved equivalent) or willingness to obtain it is preferred, but not required.
• Current GRADE "C" Water Operator's Certification or willingness to obtain it is preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons.
• Must be able to supervise other employees.
• Must be able to read and comprehend written material.
