Minimum Qualifications:

There are no education or experience qualifications or requirements for this position. Candidates must have the physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. This position is not tenure-bearing.

Duties Description Position Information:

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a State Fair Worker (Events) at the New York State Fair. The State Fair Worker (Events) has responsibilities such as ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of event facilities by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming floors; washing windows; and stripping and waxing floors as necessary, in addition to emptying trash and recycling bins and ensuring the proper disposal of waste. The role requires the worker to replenish supplies in restrooms and manage the operation of event building systems, including unlocking doors, and controlling lighting and HVAC settings. The worker must also tackle outdoor maintenance tasks by shoveling snow, spreading ice-melt on walkways, using leaf blowers, and cleaning tools to maintain outdoor spaces, along with clearing barn stalls of animal manure post-events. Furthermore, the position involves setting up and transporting furniture and equipment, such as tables, chairs, picnic benches, and barricades in preparation for special events and meetings. Acting as the direct point of contact for event promoters, the State Fair Worker (Events) will cater to various event-related needs as they arise.
