Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree* with at least 15 credit hours in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology; and two years of information technology experience, including one year of information security or information assurance experience**.
*Substitution: Bachelor's degree candidates without at least 15 course credits in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology require an additional year of general information technology experience to qualify. Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis; an associate degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience.
**Experience solely in information security or information assurance may substitute for the general information technology experience.
Duties Description The incumbent will report to the Office of Counter Terrorism's Critical Infrastructure Unit. Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Organize, coordinate, and facilitate legislatively mandated visits ensuring all required staff activities are completed.
• Support risk assessments as assigned.
• Maintain required certifications to support cybersecurity assessments.
• Conduct risk assessments focused on cyber security protection. Deliver quality products to customers for their use.
• Develop a detailed knowledge base and understanding of cyber vulnerabilities and security best practices.
• Provide guidance to IT Specialist 2 (Information Security) staff and interns including the full scope of supervisory responsibilities.
• Maintain open communication and information sharing channels with the Cyber Incident Response Team.
• Review and record findings of water treatment plant vulnerability assessments focusing on cyber security.
• Conduct outreach calls and site visits with water sector assets as determined necessary to help improve reduce potential risk.
• Maintain awareness of cyber news in the energy, pipeline and chemical sectors.
• Develop and maintain proficiency of the NY Responds System and Emergency Support Function Annexes.
• Regularly meet with the report writing lead to understand cyber report needs, deliverables and due dates.
• Support and manage as assigned the cyber working group, meet regularly and review products prior to submission to the report writing lead.
• Work with sensitive information which will require obtaining a National Security Clearance.
• Assist in disaster response and recovery activities as required and assigned.
• Perform additional duties as required, including those of an emergency nature.
• Travel will be required.
Additional Comments Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.
