Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience. Four years of specialized experience or associate’s degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience.

Perferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

• Install and configure Windows operating systems on desktop PCs, laptops, and tablets; assist users in troubleshooting problems
• Install and configure Microsoft Office and Office365; assist users in troubleshooting issues
• Install and configure iPhone iOS and apps; assist users in troubleshooting issues
• Create and modify website pages using text editors and html code
• Host and troubleshoot virtual meetings on platforms including Webex, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
• Use Adobe Premier Pro to edit mp4 video files
• Diagnose hardware problems and perform repairs, and diagnose and troubleshoot software issues
• Familiar with network infrastructure and IP addressing; able to configure network devices (PCs, printers, scanners, WIFI access points) with IP information; able to diagnose network issues such as lack of connectivity or Internet access
• Familiar with NYS Directory Services (my.ny.gov)
• Familiar with NYS Office of Information Technology (ITS) help desk procedures for filing and tracking troubleshooting requests

Duties Description The Assistant Director of Information Technology reports to the Director of Information Technology and has overall responsibility for supporting the Office’s technology needs.

The duties of the Assistant Director of Information Technology include the following, in coordination with and at the direction of the Director of Information Technology:
• Acting as Office liaison with the New York State Office of Information Technology Services and other external agencies and vendors on IT-related matters.
• Implementing technical plans for network enhancement and for better data visualization to make data easier to understand and more accessible to the public.
• Enhancing information systems and managing and upgrading the Office’s website and other internet communication.
• Procuring hardware, software, and services as needed; performing installations and updates; and maintaining inventories.
• Diagnosing and responding to staff’s IT user problems; creating and modifying user network accounts; facilitating and hosting ILS virtual conferences; and updating the ILS website.
• Ensuring all staff are equipped to telecommute because of staff travel obligations.
• Developing and implementing a data reporting portal and creating policies and procedures for the use of the portal.
