Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have at least three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in development, marketing, constituency relations or program advocacy AND experience using technology for outreach, member management, and fundraising activities (Constant Contact and Raiser’s Edge preferred) AND excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience in research, writing, and editing program support materials AND direct marketing analysis, design, and delivery expertise AND strong organizational abilities, demonstrated ability to work independently, and to plan and organize work to completion.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Cultural Education is seeking to fill the position of Manager, Archives Partnership Trust (APT). The APT is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and public benefit corporation that secures private funding to build an endowment and to underwrite creative educational, access, awareness, and preservation projects to increase the use of the New York State Archives. The New York State Archives is a program of NYSED that identifies, preserves, and makes available more than 270 million records of colonial and state government that have enduring value to all citizens.

Under the direction of the Trust’s Director, the incumbent will serve as Manager and will work with the Director to lead and manage the planning and execution of initiatives designed to grow an endowment, secure project funding for the New York State Archives, and to expand the Archives’ public programming and outreach. Additional duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Manage the Trust donor relations program by using marketing expertise to expand and cultivate constituencies; overseeing direct mailings, electronic communications, and the development, production, and printing of outreach materials; overseeing new donor outreach; overseeing acknowledgements and renewals; developing and evaluating the effectiveness of recruitment and solicitation approaches, and tracking the results; and administering the donor/member database.
• Manage release of the print and digital version of the New York Archives magazine; monthly electronic newsletters; identifying other opportunities to expand the use of digital technology for outreach and fundraising; and overseeing maintenance of the Trust’s website;
• Manage the Annual Appeal program by developing a theme and preparing text for the fall and spring campaign print and digital materials; printing letters; creating queries and mailing lists; and coordinate mailings;
• Manage a program of special events that will engage and increase the number of individuals and corporations committed to the Archives including but not limited to the Empire State Archives & History Program, New York Archives Magazine Online Speaker Series, and Steward lectures/receptions.
• Broadly assist in the execution of special projects by participating in planning, backup, and support;
• Assist with the development of content, research, and coordination of information, printing and mailing of the quarterly New York Archives magazine, monthly electronic newsletter, brochures, and other publications directed at constituency building and advancing fundraising goals.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is in the unclassified service and the incumbent will serve at the discretion of the Executive Officer of the Archives Partnership Trust. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. This position leads to a maximum salary of $80,248 based on annual performance advances.
