Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. However, prior to being considered for appointment, you will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates your ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.

Duties Description The Fiscal Planning and Management Section (FPMS), in the Division of Water’s (DOW) Bureau of Water Assessment and Management, is an integral part of the DOW’s operational structure responsible for the direct management of contracts and procurement in compliance with New York State and DEC rules and policies.

The Office Assistant 1 within the FPMS is responsible for completing various office tasks in support of DOW purchasing, grant administration, and fiscal contract management:
• Prepare, process, and review financial transactions and records, including payments for bills, invoices, and vouchers;
• Maintain basic financial, accounting, and/or statistical records; update and/or correct records, if needed;
• Receive, screen, review, and verify documents, forms, applications, claims, and other documents for completeness, content, and accuracy;
• Enter, retrieve and verify accuracy of data within state financial management systems and DOW databases;
• Answer questions from and provide information to various parties regarding DOW activities, transactions, and procedures;
• Assist with mass mailing efforts;
• Assist with calendaring BWAM meetings;
• Perform records management activities to include reviewing paper files, identifying records which can be sent to archives, etc.
• Other duties required to support general operations within BWAM.

Additional Comments Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
