Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience qualifications for this class.
Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State
driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Duties Description Incumbent is responsible for a variety of duties necessary for the operation and cleanliness of the Wildlife Resources Center, grounds and outbuildings. Duties include, but not limited to: perform general custodial tasks and maintenance of building, such as cleaning common areas, offices and restrooms, necropsy suites and laboratory; painting and moving furniture; perform general grounds maintenance tasks, such as mowing lawns, trimming and removing trees and shrubs, maintaining parking lots and sidewalks, snow and ice removal, and trash removal, as well as perform basic building maintenance and routine semi-skilled maintenance like repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry and equipment maintenance; serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and vendors on-site; perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects and equipment; work comfortably at heights, such as climbing ladders; operate a motor vehicle with snow plow and other motorized equipment; and a variety of light mechanized equipment.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Incumbent will be required to receive rabies pre-exposure vaccination and annual flu vaccines.

This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
