Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: One year of clerical experience.

Promotion Provisional: One year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service as an Office Assistant 2, Grade 9, or one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title at or above the Grade 7 level, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have strong organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and WebEx.

Duties Description The Office Assistant 2 will coordinate and perform a range of operational support to the New York State’s Division of Nutrition, Division Direction unit and other programs by answering telephones, retrieving mail, photocopying, scanning, faxing, shredding, proofreading, typing, drafting letters and memos, creating, and updating spreadsheets and communicating information to team leads. They will accurately use Microsoft Word, Excel, or SharePoint to create, modify, or maintain documents in a timely and efficient manner. Additional duties will include scheduling appointments and meetings using various office tools; assisting staff by answering questions and directing staff to the appropriate place when they come to the Division Direction desk, and ensuring that basic office supplies are stocked.
