Minimum Qualifications For State Employees : NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Program Aide, G-13 or a current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title allocated to G-11 or higher, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. For General public: NYHELPS qualifications:
High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma, and
three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or
paraprofessional work in an office environment.
Certification (e.g., IAAP Certified Administrative Professional) or
associate’s degree in office administration, secretarial science,
administrative assistance, paralegal, business technology, or
office technology may substitute for two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and pay attention to details.  Strong organizational skills; be able to multitask and deliver on tight timeframes; have the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and be self-motivated. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new systems and applications. Preferred candidates will have experience in a healthcare field, preferably pharmacy or pharmacy benefits.

Duties Description The program aide will assist Medicaid providers, members, stakeholders, state agency partners, and others with understanding and using the Medicaid pharmacy benefit. They will triage calls, faxes and emails and will respond directly using provided guidance or escalate the matter to other staff in the bureau. The program aide will use the pharmacy claim system to investigate member issues and assist in resolution.
