Minimum Qualifications General Public: NY HELPS qualifications:
Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or
paraprofessional work in an office environment.
State Employees-
Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Program Aide, Grade 13 (formerly known as Administrative Aide, Grade 13, or Agency Program Aide, Grade 13).
Transfer Opportunity: New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in title at Grade 11 or above, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide, Grade 13, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have excellent organizational skills; be proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database programs; and have experience with Microsoft Office. They will also have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. The ability to multi-task and to work effectively is preferred.
Duties Description The Program Aide (PA) will be assigned to the Metropolitan Area Regional Office in the Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) at the Division of Nutrition. Reporting to the Health Program Administrator 1, the Program Aide will be responsible for routine administrative tasks such as ordering supplies; developing and maintaining tracking spreadsheets as needed; updating databases; and drafting correspondence. The incumbent will also provide administrative support to BSI staff who investigate Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) vendors and WIC participants within NYS. Administrative support may include analyzing and inputting data; and preparing documents for hearings and debt collection. Duties may also include supervising subordinate administrative staff.
Additional Comments Contingent permanent, full-time, competitive or noncompetitive appointment. Transfer candidates may be asked for their social security number to verify transfer eligibility. Occasional travel, including to areas that may not be served by public transportation, may be required (10%).

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
