Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of professional experience in writing and/or editing content for various media. An interest in NYS Government and/or public service is strongly preferred. A relevant Master's degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Duties Description Under direct supervision of the Director of Correspondence, drafts messages from the Governor.
DUTIES:
• Draft messages from the Governor (i.e. letters, certificates, citations, and proclamations), based on requests received from Chamber Staff, agency staff, and/or the public
• Maintain records of outgoing messages from the Governor and approved drafts
• Produce and fill out vetting sheets for all incoming requests
• Research information for drafting messages from the Governor
• Proof, edit, and rewrite drafts produced by Chamber Staff or outside agencies, when appropriate
• Assist in the organization and maintenance of messages from the Governor from year to year
• With the Director, handle and organize the Governor’s personal correspondence
• With the Deputy Director, ensure the timely issuance of gubernatorial proclamations in accordance with dates coinciding with state and national observances, and formal ceremonial events
• Perform related duties as necessary
