Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience.*

*Substitutions: four years of specialized experience or associate’s degree and two years of specializedexperience may substitute for bachelor’s degree; J.D. or master’s degree may substitute for one year ofspecialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.

Duties Description Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner for Government and Community Relations, duties will include but not be limited to the following:

• Tracks state legislation
• Prepares department response to state legislative proposals.
• Advocates in support of the department’s interests at state and local levels.
• Monitors activities of other state agencies and authorities as those activities relate to NYSDOT.
• Acts as legislative liaison to NYC and Long Island based state legislative members.
• Manages department interaction with state-wide transportation related trade association and state-wide stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with Assistant Commissioners for Regional Operations.
• Coordinate with Regional Offices.

Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
