Minimum Qualifications Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been primarily working in the development, implementation, or administration of an infection control program.
a bachelor's degree in nursing can be substituted for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and possession of a current Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certificate issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology can substitute for the one year of infection control program experience.
Duties Description As a Registered Nurse 3 Infection Control, you would have responsibility for an infection control and prevention program, ensuring its adherence to established infection control standards and policies, and developing an infection control risk assessment and plan, in addition to education programs for patients and staff. You would report on the effectiveness of the program by gathering, analyzing, and presenting infection data, facts, and trends to stakeholders. You would serve in a liaison capacity between all departments and Infection Control Committees or hospital departments responsible for infection control and prevention services.

2. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($79,928), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,536), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000) and downstate adjustment of $3,400. The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($101,197), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000) and downstate adjustment of $3,400.
