Minimum Qualifications Buffalo Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Utilization Review Coordinator to analyze and evaluate quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of psychiatric and medical services provided to individual diagnosed with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Utilization Review Coordinator if they have:
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 3 years of utilization review experience in a health care facility regulated by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Utilization Review Standards, or
• Possession of a license and registration to practice nursing and 2 years of post-licensure nursing experience, one of which must have included utilization review and/or discharge planning
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Utilization Review Coordinator eligible list.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have 1 year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
OR
In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Utilization Review Coordinator at Buffalo Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.
Promotional Field consists of Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric (including all language parenthetic)
Duties Description As a Utilization Review Coordinator, your duties will include:
• Reviewing clinical records for completeness and accuracy to ensure compliance.
• Collecting and analyzing data related to the utilization review process and preparing reports on findings, patterns, and trends.
• Reviewing medical records of new admissions, placement decisions, length of stays, and discharge plans against established criteria to determine if necessary and effective.
