Duties Description Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center (CPC), a New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility is recruiting a Medical Specialist 2 to serve as the Director of Medicine. The Director of Medicine is responsible the oversight and supervision of 13 physicians who provide medical care to patients on 13 inpatient units and outpatient/residential clients at two on-site medical clinics.
Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Director of Medicine works collaboratively with the Director of Psychiatry and the Directors of other clinical departments (Pharmacy, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation) to ensure coordination of care for both the medical and psychiatric needs of CPC’s patients.
The Director of Medicine:
• Oversees, monitors, and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of patient care within the Medicine Department.
• Ensures the coordination of the Medical On-Call Program for CPC.
• Coordinates or performs necessary chart reviews to ensure compliance with CPC’s quality management standards.
• Coordinates the Credentialing and Privileging process.
• Supervises Physical Therapy Department and part-time consultant medical specialists.
• Participates in facility-wide interdisciplinary committees - Medical Staff Organization, Morbidity and Mortality Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Incident Review Committee, Adverse Drug Reactions Committee, Infection Control Committee, Antibiotic Stewardship Committee, Falls Committee, Ethics Committee.
