Minimum Qualifications The New York Senate Minority Conference is seeking a Senior Communications Coordinator to join their team in Albany. The Senior Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing communications strategy on behalf of the members of the Senate Republican Conference. The coordinator will work with Albany, regional, and district-based offices to formulate communications strategy and supplement communications implementation.
Success in this role will require the following abilities:
•Producing professional written and multimedia content including drafting statements and drafting news releases within deadlines;
•Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with others;
•Speaking and writing professionally and persuasively;
•Maintaining, assisting, and monitoring social media networks;
•Making phone calls to governmental offices and media to ensure event notification;
•Meeting strict deadlines and following up when necessary;
•Following oral and written directions
•Working independently;
•Collaborating with others as part of a team;
•Performing other duties assigned.
To move forward, you must have:
•A bachelor's degree
•Three years of government or political communications experience;
•Writing and digital media knowledge necessary i.e. Facebook, Instagram, X skills;
•An understanding of print, broadcast and online media.
Duties Description The essential functions of this dynamic role include:
•Craft messages that builds into a narrative for state and local communications;
•Identify opportunities to cultivate media coverage for member offices;
•Organize and assist with press conferences and special events (may require travel);
•Assist in the development, writing, editing, and formatting documents with appropriate letterhead/signature;
•Distribution of internal and external communications materials as necessary electronically and hardcopies;
•Produce regular reports on activity and background materials for internal and external use;
•Assist in the writing of social media postings, press releases, statements, speeches, and opinion editorials;
•Following up on projects from beginning to end;
•Utilize legislative, policy, finance, communications, and digital specialists to improve communications; and
•Research public policy issues of local, regional, and statewide significance.
Additional Comments Compensation ranges from $52,500 to $57,500, and will be determined by relevant work experience.
