Minimum Qualifications G31 - Doctorate in the natural sciences and three years of professional post-degree research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master's Degree and five years of such experience.

Duties Description The Wadsworth Center (www.wadsworth.org) is the most comprehensive state-public-health laboratory in the country, and includes a dynamic research atmosphere focused on infectious, genetic, and environmental diseases and their impact on human health. The incumbant will join a highly interactive group of research scientists applying genomics, immunology, microbiology and structural biology to study the molecular genetics/biology of bacteria and viruses (bacterial and eukaryotic) in both model and pathogenic organisms to determine mechanisms of pathogenesis. Research areas of interest include studies of basic biological processes in bacteria and viruses and mechanisms of pathogenesis, including those causing zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, which will expand the Wadsworth Center's current research efforts in infectious diseases and host biology.

Additional Comments Permanent, non-competitive, full-time.

Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position, the selected candidate will be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment. Work hours may be variable. Some travel may be required.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
