Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an art or design field such as art, drawing, painting, illustration, digital design, or interactive media and two years of experience; or an associate’s degree in the same fields and four years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications Design, Video, or a related field; experience producing multimedia communication projects for social media; demonstrated proficiency in Adobe CC, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign; demonstrated video editing experience to help create short-form and long-form video content; demonstrated conceptual planning, creative design, and typography skills; demonstrated experience following art direction, receiving feedback and collaborating on layouts; demonstrated exceptional organizational and time management skills, including handing multiple projects simultaneously
Duties Description Develop and design compelling, engaging content (static graphics, editorial/press related graphics, infographics, motion graphics, reels, video cutdowns, etc.) to engage followers and grow audiences across social platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and other emerging channels; assist in the coordination of the workflow of creative assets through the production process; work in partnership with the social media team to create cohesive social media assets that can be leveraged on organic and paid social media; review all materials that are produced and ensure that approvals have been secured and that the final product is accurate, in the appropriate format and meets the outlined digital needs; work closely with the creative design team to ensure consistency in brand voice and visual style across all social channels, while always looking for ways to elevate and evolve the brand; experiment and master new design tools, features, and functionalities to create content, engage with fans, and increase reach; support additional digital design efforts as needed. This may include design of website ads, banners, graphics, and more; troubleshoot and support hardware and software problems that interfere with the creation and/or delivery of content; provide design support to appropriate staff; perform other appropriate related duties.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
