Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be either be:
- Enrolled in (or about to commence) an LL.M. program in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy or similar area,
OR
- Enrolled as a full-time law student at accredited law school in New York State (1L or 2L)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
• Strong computer research skills, such as Lexis
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Background in Data Privacy, Information Security, or Cybersecurity
• Desire to work in public service
• Strong interest in Data Privacy
Duties Description NYSIF’s Information Security Office is seeking a Data Privacy Intern who will work with a New York State Agency Cybersecurity team to learn what it takes to maintain secure networks and systems, drive industry and corporate security awareness. You will work with junior and senior Information Security, Data Privacy, Information Technology Services, and Business Services professionals. This internship will support NYSIF’s Data Privacy Office with respect to one or more of the following areas:
• Research and evaluation of Data Privacy and Data Breach laws and regulations in the United States (Federal and State), Canada, and Worldwide.
• Research and evaluation of emerging Data Privacy and Data Breach law and regulation trends.
• Contracts, including Data Privacy and Data Breach provisions, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and Data Sharing Agreements.
• Policy review and development, including data access and controls, data use, data protections, and privacy incidents.
• Special projects, including privacy issues concerning mobile applications, and privacy issues concerning data collected from website use.
