Duties Description Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Report Creation and Modification: leverage Excel skills to create and modify financial reports.
• Hyperion Administrative Application Maintenance: Successful candidates will receive training in advanced Hyperion administrative application maintenance duties. This training will equip the candidate with the necessary skills to manage and support the Hyperion platform, an essential tool for our financial planning and reporting processes.
• Data Analysis with Oracle Financials: A strong set of analytical skills is vital, as the candidate will be expected to utilize multiple data sets, including those from Oracle Financials, to conduct in-depth analyses.
• Forecast and Variance Meetings: Quarterly, the candidate will host forecast and variance meetings with department heads. These sessions are critical for reviewing financial performance against budget and forecasts, allowing the candidate to facilitate discussions that drive accountability and strategic alignment across departments.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Financial planning and analysis background
• Advanced Excel experience (Pivot tables, understanding of how to utilize formulas in Excel, data analysis, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications For Appointment to Budgeting Analyst Trainee 1 (SG14):
• Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title; OR
• One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Eligible titles include, but aren’t limited to: Admnv Analyst Trainee 1, Admnv Specialist Trainee 1, Contract Management Specialist Trainee 1, Policyholder Services Representative Tr 1.; OR
• A bachelor's or higher degree.

NY HELPS Program:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
