Duties Description Under the direction of the Project Director on the Human-Centered Design Team, the Project Coordinator (P27) will oversee and guide accessibility initiatives at New York State’s Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and across New York State’s agencies. The Accessibility Team Program Manager will ensure that all digital services and products meet state and federal accessibility guidelines, working closely with various teams and agencies to develop accessibility strategies, audit digital properties, and provide guidance for remediation of accessibility issues.
We are seeking a highly skilled Accessibility Team Program Manager to coordinate cross-agency accessibility efforts and serve as the primary point of contact for accessibility audits, training, and compliance. This individual will provide strategic oversight of accessibility-related initiatives, ensuring both compliance with WCAG standards and the creation of accessible, user-friendly government services across New York State agencies.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Define and lead accessibility strategy for New York State government services, ensuring compliance with WCAG, ADA, Section 508, and New York State Technology Law accessibility requirements;
• Establish and oversee an internal accessibility consultancy within ITS, engaging QA teams, designers, developers, product managers, and people with disabilities to identify and prioritize meaningful issues;
• Serve as the main liaison between ITS, state agencies, and other stakeholders, providing leadership on accessibility priorities, compliance requirements, and remediation strategies;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility best practices into the statewide design system, development builds, QA processes, and statewide training initiatives;
• Present audit findings and strategic recommendations to ITS leadership and agency partners;
• Build and maintain training programs, partnering with a training coordinator to educate ITS staff and agency teams on accessibility standards and sustainable practices.
• Perform the full range of supervisory duties.

Minimum Qualifications • 8+ years of experience in digital accessibility or related fields, with a strong understanding of WCAG guidelines and ADA and Section 508 compliance;
• Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels, including designers, developers, QA testers, and executives;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and educate stakeholders across state agencies and explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences;
• Strong program and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to oversee multiple phases of accessibility audits and remediation projects;
• Accessibility certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or Trusted Tester are a strong plus.
