Duties Description The incumbent will work within the Bureau of Waste Reduction and Recycling in support of the development and implementation of the state’s existing organics reduction and recycling programs. The incumbent may also work in support of the Food Donation and Food Scraps Recycling Law, emerging contaminants in organic waste, and regulations governing organics facilities. Specific duties will include implementing organics reduction and recycling programs; researching the latest developments in emerging contaminants in organic waste; data analysis and report compilation; reviewing registrations and permit applications; reviewing solid waste facility annual reports for compliance with regulatory standards; rulemaking assistance; performing occasional site visits and facility technical assistance; and other duties as assigned to support the Department, Division, Bureau, or Sections.
Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter;
OR
graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;
OR
graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry;
OR
18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
