Duties Description The University at Albany's Office of Facilities Management seeks to hire a skilled and motivated individual that can support a diverse group of end users across the Office of Facilities Management. The successful candidate will be service oriented, possess excellent customer service skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate with customers over the phone, in person and by e-mail as they assist customers with a wide range of technical proficiency.
The IT Support Assistant works within the Administrative Services Unit and reports directly to the Information Technology Manager for the Office of Facilities Management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for office equipment, computers, and peripherals, including printers, scanners, and mobile devices.
- Set up and configure university-supported hardware and software for employee use.
- Diagnose and resolve operating system, application, and connectivity problems related to email and network services.
- Respond to service requests and incidents in person, via email, telephone, or remote assistance.
-Stay updated with the latest web browsers, operating system updates, and university applications.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to IT Manager/Facilities Management
Supervises the following positions: None
May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling position)
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Six college credits in computer or information science, OR twenty-four hours of vendor training in Help Desk/User Support operations, OR one year of satisfactory work experience in a Help Desk/User Support environment.
- Basic knowledge of Windows OS and computer hardware.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook
- Working knowledge configuring mobile devices (smartphones, tablets)
- Valid driver's license
