Duties Description HMW 2 duties include but are not limited to:
• Operate one or more of the categories as described above.
• Must be prepared to act as a “crew leader” and be capable of providing instruction to
operators and crew members.
• Provide on the job training to other maintenance workers in the operation of highway
construction and maintenance equipment.
• Must respond to emergency call-outs within an hour during inclement weather, including
snow and ice conditions to be considered for the position.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications Must have at least one year of satisfactory experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker 1 and possess NYS DOT certification to operate at least two additional types of Category 2 equipment and at least two types of Category 3 equipment. (minimum of 9 certifications total).
This vacancy will also require the candidate to obtain their herbicide applicator license within 1 year of appointment date.
Note: Higher category certifications may be used in place of lower category certifications.
Failure to hold certification on the specified equipment will result in removal of the candidate from the position.

Highway Maintenance Worker 2: The salary for this position is $52,768 - $62,708. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $43,768 - $53,708 with an additional geographic pay differential of $9,000, specific to this title and location.

employment or may be a basis for removal from employment.
