Duties Description Youth Support Coordinators mentor and guide youth in Community Multi-Services office (CMSO) programs. They are responsible for the supervision, evaluation and guidance of youthful offenders, juvenile offenders or at-risk youth referred to OCFS. They frequently communicate face-to-face with individual youth and their families.
Supervise Youth Support Coordinator 1 and other community service team (CST) members.
Ensure that the CSTs policies, procedures and practices comply with OCFS policies and procedures and are fully implemented.
Collaborate with all stakeholders, including OCFS staff, State and local providers, youth, families and voluntary agencies to identify and support the implementation of best practices; overcomes impediments to implementation; and facilitates the resolution of outstanding problems.
Establish and ensure implementation of CST administrative priorities.
Participate in developing and implementing the OCFS Office of Community Partnerships management and program systems.

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience in youth rehabilitative programs*, one year of which must have included the direct supervision of professional staff.
* In order to qualify as a “youth rehabilitative program” clients served must have been youth between the ages of 10 and 21 years of age. Further, the primary emphasis of the program must have been with persons clearly identified as courts adjudicated youth, i.e., juvenile delinquents, youth offenders, persons in need of supervision).
Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements:
1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.
3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
