Duties Description Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, the Director of Marketing & Communications will direct, oversee, and coordinate with the Deputy Communications Director to provide marketing leadership and strategy that align with business goals. The Director will also be responsible for daily operations of the Public Information and Communications offices in coordination with the Deputy Communications Director.
The Director of Marketing & Communications will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies that effectively position NYSIF as a competitive force in the marketplace and an industry leader in price, quality, and customer service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Foster a work environment that balances collaboration, innovation, performance, and careful stewardship of resources and relationships.
• Work collaboratively with business leadership to communicate vision, strategy, image and brand message across all levels of the organization and to external stakeholders.
• Oversee development, production, and distribution of all marketing and communications materials, including online content, publications, news releases, customer documents and materials.
• Work closely with business leadership to ensure the brand identity and positioning is consistent across organizational communications and to help ensure the customer experience aligns with brand identity.
• Assist in the transformation and marketing of processes or programs that highlight, communicate and implement a customer-centric approach.
• Advise senior management on various marketing strategies including media and external communications content.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase market share, create brand awareness and enhance customer relationships in collaboration with business teams and client relations.
• Be current in market and industry trends, competitive analysis, marketing, communications, and business development analytics.
• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Track results and conduct post-campaign ROI analysis and reporting.
• Serve as an event lead for coordinating panels and public events.
• Manage website content changes, requests, and all related website projects.
Minimum Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or relevant field and a minimum of 7 years of executive-level experience in customer/client relations, marketing, and/or public relations.
Preference may be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage projects from inception to go-live.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent track record of leadership and supervisory experience.
• Significant writing and editing experience, with excellent grasp of grammar and creating content for websites.
Preferred Qualifications:
• The ideal candidate will be collaborative, a creative thinker, and demonstrate the ability to work across a multidisciplinary team.
• A record of progressive marketing experience in either the financial services or insurance industry.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and emergent trends in workers’ compensation and disability coverage.
• Experience in customer service and customer-centered approaches to written and digital marketing communication.
• Meaningful experience converting technical jargon into plain language for external customers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for clear communication and a knack for simplifying complex concepts without losing essential meaning.
