Duties Description The Facilities Operations Assistant will be responsible for carrying out routine and basic tasks, including: relocating supplies and equipment within the facilities, clearing materials from construction sites, painting, conducting maintenance on machinery, loading and unloading trucks, performing basic carpentry and masonry work, and managing the pickup and delivery program across the five locations of the Wadsworth Center.
Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. Incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate should have a solid understanding and proficiency in operating vehicles, tools, and equipment utilized in building and grounds maintenance.
Additional Comments Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations.
Prior to being hired, applicants may be required to demonstrate their ability to perform the essential duties of the position.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
