Duties Description Communications Director to oversee and execute our media strategy, public messaging, and constituent outreach efforts. This individual will be key in shaping the Assemblyman’s communications, engaging with the press, managing digital content, and ensuring practical legislative and community priorities messaging.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy, including press relations, digital media, and public engagement.
• Draft press releases, statements, op-eds, newsletters, and speeches on behalf of the Assemblyman.
• Manage social media platforms, create engaging content, and monitor digital trends.
• Cultivate relationships with journalists, reporters, and media outlets to promote legislative and district initiatives.
• Coordinate press conferences, town halls, and other public events.
• Respond to media inquiries and serve as a spokesperson when needed.
• Monitor legislative developments and political trends to craft timely and compelling messaging.
• Work closely with the Assemblyman and staff to align communications with policy goals and constituent services.

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, media relations, government, or a political office.
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in social media management, graphic design tools (Canva, Photoshop), and email marketing platforms.
• Experience working with press and media outlets; knowledge of the New York political landscape is a plus.
• Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to public service and understanding of legislative processes.
