Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 830am-430pm, 22.5 hours a week
Overview
•The Historic Resource GIS Intern will support the Division for Historic Preservation at the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) by filling gaps in the Division’s historic resource GIS data in areas at risk of adverse climate impacts. The position will be 22.5 hours a week and is located a Peebles Island State Park, Waterford, NY. The candidate will gain hands on experience in GIS and database management of cultural resources as it relates to disaster preparedness and resiliency.
Job Duties
•Geolocate building records in the New York State Cultural Resource Information System (CRIS).
•Confirm building locations using scanned inventory forms, past and present aerial photography, project review files, or other documentation.
•Record anomalies such as duplicate building records, demolished buildings, or inadequate location information.
•Travel is not required, but opportunities for field visits with DHP staff will be available.
Minimum Qualifications Qualifications
•Current graduate student pursuing a degree in Geography, Information Science, Computer Science, GIS, public history, or similar disciplines.
•Preferred candidate must be detail-oriented in the management of data.
•Candidate should be familiar with Microsoft programs; particularly excel and access.
•Divers license not required.
