Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Cultural Education is seeking candidates for a Development Assistant position in the New York State Archives Partnership Trust. The Trust is a public benefit corporation and 501(c)(3) organization that secures private funding to build an endowment and support education, preservation, and outreach projects of the New York State Archives. The State Archives, a program of NYSED, preserves and makes available over 270 million records that document New York’s colonial and state government, events, and its people. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist in administrative tasks related to donor and subscriber processing and tracking, event management, engagement reports, and special projects.
• Assist in the creation and management of ongoing communications and marketing projects such as the APT website, New York Archives magazine renewals and marketing campaigns, social media calendar and content for the State Archives and Archives Trust, and related promotional outreach materials.
• Assist in the development and coordination of online and in-person events and projects aimed at expanding and engaging existing and new audiences across New York State.
• Assist in the recruitment and management of organizational partnerships for special projects and promotions.
• Perform other duties related to tasks above as assigned by the Director and/or Executive Officer.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 2 years work experience in development, marketing/communications, and social media environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Should be comfortable functioning independently and as a member of a team. Must meet deadlines reliably and enjoy working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience using social media marketing tools, Raiser’s Edge, Concrete 5, Adobe Photo Shop, and video editing programs and Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals and groups, providing information and support as needed.
• Energetic, persuasive, confident, and self-directed.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is in the unclassified service and serves at the discretion of the Director and Executive Officer of the Archives Partnership Trust. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of work experience will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. This position allows for the opportunity to telecommute up to 30% each bi-weekly pay period and is granted at the discretion of the supervisor and the appointing office.
This position leads to a maximum salary of $61,548 based on annual performance advances and traineeship advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
