Duties Description The EET1 supports the Division of Water’s (DOW) Bureau of Water Assessment and Management (BWAM). The EET1 is responsible for completing various office tasks in support of DOW’s grant administration and ?scal contract management, as well as supporting monitoring, assessment and water quality standards and analytical tasks.
Duties (Administrative):
•Prepare, process, and review financial transactions and records, including payments for bills, invoices, and vouchers.
•Maintain basic financial, accounting, and/or statistical records; update and/or correct records.
•Provide phone support for the DOW main phone line.
•Receive, screen, review, and verify documents, forms, applications, claims, and other documents for completeness, content, and accuracy.
•Enter, retrieve and verify accuracy of data within state financial management systems and DOW databases.
•Answer questions from and provide information to various parties regarding DOW activities, transactions, and procedures.
•Assist with mass mailing efforts.
•Assist with calendaring BWAM meetings using MS Outlook.
•Perform records management activities to include reviewing paper files, scanning and identifying records which can be sent to archives, etc.
•Other duties required to support general operations within BWAM.
Duties (Monitoring and Assessment)
•Participate in field sampling activities in support of the Department’s lakes monitoring and assessment program.
•Assist in the development of water quality assessments conducted on rivers and streams sampled by Department staff or coordinated through Department initiatives, including the development of maps, analysis of data, generation of data summary tables, and use of simple water quality models for evaluating stream data; and conducting similar activities in assisting with the development of water quality reports developed by Department staff.
•Preparation for and collection of samples, field measurements, and observations from streams, rivers, and lakes across New York State
•Assist in the development, update, and maintenance of various components of the Section’s monitoring data management system
Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter;
OR graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;
OR graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry;
OR 18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
