Duties Description Newtown Battlefield State Park in the Finger Lakes Region is seeking part-time seasonal employees to perform daily operational tasks. Responsibilities include facility maintenance, customer service, landscaping, and general operational support:
• Perform daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of all park facilities (interior and exterior), including restrooms, showers, cabins, shelters, and pavilions which may require the use of ladders.
• Remove trash and recycling from all public areas.
• Maintain and track inventory of cleaning and operational supplies.
• Promptly report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors; perform minor repairs when possible.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting visitors, answering questions, and assisting with check-in/check-out for campers.
• Answer phones, staff the office, and prepare materials for camper check-ins.
• Conduct evening security patrols throughout the park and campgrounds.
• Verify permits for visitors remaining after hours.
• Educate visitors on park rules and hours of operation.
• Enforce quiet hours in campgrounds.
• Lock pavilions and secure buildings at the end of the shift.
• Perform landscaping duties such as push mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, watering, and clearing trails.
• Operate small equipment including wood splitters, leaf blowers, string trimmers, push mowers, utility carts, and pressure washers.
• Support other operational tasks as assigned, including:
• Painting and basic facility upkeep which may require the use of ladders.
• Assisting with building and equipment maintenance
• Collaborating with volunteers and supporting park events
• Complete required orientation and training sessions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Much of the incumbent’s time will be spent outdoors performing physical work under varying weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must be at least 18 years of age per the NYS Department of Labor requirements.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
• Must have ability to work in groups and on their own.
• Weekend/Holiday work will be required.
