Duties Description Are you ready to start your Social Work career with New York State? Secure Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (STARC)is recruiting for a Social
Worker to assist Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSW) and
Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) in providing professional
social work services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Social Worker at Secure Treatment and Rehabilitation Center you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing case management and service coordination under the supervision of an LMSW or LCSW including:
• Providing service linkages and access to benefits to meet
individuals personal and social needs
• Educating individuals and families about the nature of illness
and disorders
• Providing individuals with vocational and educational resources
• Interviewing individuals to gather background information
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be
considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited
Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they:
• Possess a limited permit to practice social work in New York
State; or
• Eligible to enter the examination for licensure as a Licensed
Master Social Worker (LMSW) in New York State
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a
competitive class position if they have one year of permanent
competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer
under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Candidates will immediately advance to Licensed Master Social
Worker, SG-20, when they receive their NYS Licensed Master Social Worker License.
Additional Comments LMSWs are eligible for shift differential pay
• 7% for evening and weekend day shifts
• 10% for night shifts

1. If appointed, you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
