Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position would be directly responsible for assisting the nursing and house staff with a variety of clinical and nursing services at the Clinton County IRAs. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Attending medical appointments and assisting with telehealth appointments as needed.
• Assisting with nursing tasks, including injections, catheterizations, etc.
• Creating spreadsheets/documents to assist RNs in tracking/trending medical data (ex: collecting medication and procedural error data).
• Assisting with prior authorizations for medical procedures (i.e. MRI).
• Uploading medical documents, including consults, diagnostic results, etc., to individual EHR records.
• Assisting with maintaining medical records (ex: filing and uploading medical documents) for individuals residing in the Clinton County IRAs.
• Assist RN with completion of medical documents.
• Maintain medication and treatment inventory, including weekly inventory checks, reordering medications and treatments when needed, verifying accuracy of inventory, etc.
• Collaborating with local pharmacies and the pharmacy vendor to assist in remedying issues with prescriptions.
• Assist with disseminating medical information to the RN, direct care, clinical, etc., on the interdisciplinary teams as needed.
• Ordering supplies, organizing documents, assisting with other ancillary based tasks as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications Promotion:
Possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State; and one year of service as a Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 1.

Open Competitive:
A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State AND two years of experience providing nursing care and treatment services to individuals under the supervision of a registered nurse; assisting with the implementation of treatment plans; administering, observing, and recording medication management; educating and counseling individuals and families regarding illnesses, medications, tests, and treatment goals and procedures; monitoring and recording individuals progress; and supervising direct care staff.

Transfer Qualifications:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.

• Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the increased hiring salary and geographic pay differential. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 13 ($51,857), Increased Hiring Salary ($6,464) and Geographic Differential ($4,000). The Geographic Differential is added to the job rate of ($63,169).

• If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.

• For CSEA positions: Local Bidding Agreements will be honored.
