Duties Description This position will be responsible for ensuring the operations of the Campus Mail Center are effectively meeting the needs of the campus community and assisting with daily operations as directed by the Stores and Mails Supervisor. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, picking-up mail from the distribution center in the morning and delivering the outgoing mail back to the center at the end of the day; sorting incoming and outgoing mail and process incoming and outgoing packages utilizing tracking system; delivering and picking up mail and packages for all departments on campus, as necessary; and metering outgoing mail including ensuring the correct account number is utilized for charge back purposes. Attention to detail is critical to this role, as is the ability to perform all assigned tasks in a professional and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent customer service at all times including being courteous with all colleagues, faculty, staff, students, and community members. Minimum Qualifications Must be eligible for permanent appointment to this title pursuant to civil service law.
A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a variety of individuals.
Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
Valid NYS driver’s license and the ability to drive state vehicles with proper authorization.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

The Mail Center oversees the ordering, receipt, control, and delivery of a variety of goods or mail; the pickup, processing, and disposition of outgoing mail or goods; the receipt, storage, retrieval, and delivery of supplies or goods from vendors; the maintenance of inventory records; and courier services as necessary. We are part of the Administration & Finance division which provides essential services to our campus, local, state, federal and international customers. We are responsible for human, physical, financial and technical resources. As professionals, we navigate systems in a collaborative and sensitive way to assist the University in achieving its educational mission. The expected shift for this position is Monday – Friday, Day shift.
