Duties Description Under the supervision of higher-level staff, the incumbent of this position will provide support to Region 11’s Construction Group. It is expected that the selected candidate has experience or knowledge in writing, communication, computers, and Microsoft Office products.
Duties MAY include, but are not limited to the following:
• Assist Professional Engineers in researching laws, rules, regulations and specifications related to construction contract administration.
• Assist in the development of the annual construction work plan.
• Manage the recruitment and hiring of the Transportation Construction Inspectors and track using the statewide SharePoint database. Initiate and send reports to Main Office as required.
• Implement new Main Office mandates regarding construction projects (e.g., transitioning to using ProjectWise as a main source of project document retention).
• Perform subcontractor approvals for Capital Construction contracts
• Administer the Construction Group’s CSMIN contract providing construction field offices with high-speed internet, computers, printers, helpdesk support, etc.
• Monitor the Regional Construction group’s overtime usage and track/analyze use against the allotted amount.
• Work closely with the Regional Construction Engineer and Construction Supervisors concerning employee work assignments and use of state vehicles, which are assigned to the Regional Construction Group. Maintain a database of this information and prepare reports as needed.
• Work cooperatively with both internal and external staff while exercising a considerable amount of independent judgement in performing duties
• Organize and maintain active construction project files in support of the Regional Capital Program, as well as general office filing systems.
• Ensure staff is supplied with required equipment, tools and materials.
• Act as liaison between the staff and Regional Training Coordinator to ensure staff are up to date with all State-mandated trainings.
• Initiate and send reports to Main Office as required.
• Interact with customers and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform tasks in an efficient, timely and safe manner.
• Preferred experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Additional Comments Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Salary to include an additional $4,000 location pay.
