Duties Description Under the direction of the Hon. Edwina G. Richardson, Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Justice Initiatives, the Associate Counsel hired for this position will be primarily responsible for supporting the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI).

Operating within the Office for Justice Initiatives, ODI advances the court system’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace, free from all forms of discrimination and bias, within the New York State Unified Court System.

ODI collaborates with court entities, judicial associations, local committees, bar associations, affinity organizations, and the public.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Prepare reports for the UCS leadership.
• Provide recommendations for improving court procedures, promoting best practices, and educating judges and court staff.
• Identify and coordinate Continuing Legal Education-compliant Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming and training.
• Serve as a Liaison to state and national affinity bar associations and judicial groups.
• Provide legal analysis and assistance on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion matters related to judicial and non-judicial training.
• Research and analyze relevant case law.

Minimum Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar; and One year of service in the Senior Counsel title; or Three years relevant legal experience, including up to 18 months pre-admission experience.

This role will require travel throughout New York State.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong research, writing, and facilitation skills
