Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 4 (Data Communication), SG-25, within the Chief Technology Office/Enterprise Network Services/Support and Operations/Local Area Network (LAN) Engineering Services group, the Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communications), SG-23, will perform operational support for wireless technologies across multiple agencies with some focus on specific agency wireless deployments.? Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Support various projects and Data Center Consolidation initiatives and/or support network environments in the two Data Center networks;
• Support changes to the network including cable infrastructure, network software and hardware;
• Design wireless environments;
• Process assigned ITSM Service Requests for implementation/modification of policies on network equipment;
• Configure and install network equipment in the NYS data centers: switches, routers, firewalls, etc., manufactured by Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Aruba, Arista, Meraki, and others;
• Keep documentation of network updated and accurate: Visio diagrams, operations procedures, training manuals, network templates;
• Monitor network equipment in the data centers utilizing network monitoring tools such as Zenoss, Splunk, NfSen, Wireshark, etc., reporting issues to management as appropriate;
• Occasional travel may be required; and
• Supervise lower ITS personnel.
Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communications) OR in a position at G-21 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
