Duties Description Working for the Division of Operations' Bureau of Design & Construction, incumbent will:
·Make detailed and difficult quantity and cost estimates for all types of building construction projects including quantity and cost surveys of labor and materials.
·Confer with engineers, architects, and specification writers relative to the cost of alternative methods of design.
·Compile data on factors and trends entering into the forecast of building costs and volume of building construction.
·Make estimates for proposed projects without complete working drawings, sometimes involving field visits to the site.
·Make estimates for work undertaken by contractors in excess of contract.
·Review and approve construction payment requisitions prepared by architects, engineers, contractors and construction managers.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent
competitive basis.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Travel may be required.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
