Duties Description Duties & Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the intern will be to support project teams and management in performing various analytical tasks. Duties and responsibilities include:
• Collecting, reviewing, and summarizing information on various research topics using web-based and physical sources (e.g., union contracts, internal asset maintenance records.)
• Interacting with internal and external personnel to obtain or exchange information, with occasional visits to MTA sites.
• Drafting accounts of interviews and incorporating results of analysis into final workpapers.
• Participating in team meetings and contributing to the discussion of proposed methodology and findings.
• Verbally communicating the results of work with senior staff and managers.

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications/Relevant Experience

• Current enrollment and good academic standing in master’s degree program in a field related to governmental operations and oversight, including public administration, urban planning, business, mathematics, economics, the social sciences, or other related field.
• Ability to plan and organize the timely completion of assigned research or analyses and other projects; with excellent judgment, writing, grammar, oral and communication skills, and the proven ability to write and to impart information with verbal articulation, collegially and in team settings.
• Demonstrated analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills, impartial judgment, and research aptitude.
• Ability to visit MTA locations, make observations on operations and conduct meetings with agency officials and personnel.
• A strong proficiency in Excel is a plus.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Pursuant to the approval by the Executive Deputy Inspector General/Audit, this position is eligible for hybrid teleworking.
