Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Cultural Education (OCE) is seeking candidates for a Museum Exhibit Specialist 2, position in the New York State Museum (NYSM). Under the supervision of a Supervisor, Museum Exhibit Production, the Museum Exhibit Specialist 2 oversees the audiovisual, electrical, lighting, security and computer media support for museum exhibitions. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Supervise Audio/Visual staff. Schedule staff for all events including evenings and weekends. Maintain A/V calendar;
• Complete scheduled employee performance evaluations;
• Attend weekly facility use meetings;
• Work with other CEC departments and external clients to schedule and accommodate walk throughs, logistics, setups, and running events;
• Cover events when other A/V staff is not available;
• Light all exhibitions according to lighting level requirements;
• Work with Museum Production to install all A/V components for exhibitions;
• Assist with performing daily checks on all A/V supported exhibitions;
• Maintain and upgrade A/V equipment & lighting supplies as needed. Manage theatre spaces and portable set-ups. Keep inventory stocked; and
• Work with Museum Production Supervisor to prioritize duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service as a Museum Exhibit Specialist 2
Non-Competitive Appointment: six years of experience concentrated in the production skill area of audiovisual services.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This will be a permanent, non-competitive appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit.

This position leads to a maximum salary of $80,655 based on annual performance advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts
